The Biggest Tiniest Miracle
The biggest tiniest miracle happened today—we heard our baby’s heartbeat for the first time. It’s a sound we’ve been waiting to hear again for nearly two years since Ellis was stillborn.
I was overcome with emotion upon hearing tha-thump-tha-thump-tha-thump and seeing the little flicker on our baby’s chest. I struggle to describe the feeling of relief it gave me. It renewed a level of faith in my body.
Today was a major milestone for several reasons including surpassing the growth of the baby I miscarried a year ago. That sweet little one stopped growing at 6 weeks and 3 days and we never heard its heartbeat...this new babe is 6 weeks and 4 days today.
In pregnancy after loss it’s so hard not to compare one pregnancy to another. I was anxious yesterday because of the connection in time with our miscarriage.
Thankfully I was reminded today: “Different pregnancy, different outcome.” I am so, so grateful.
